Check out our Executive Director, Jodi Hendricks, as she gives testimony on HB7.
Jodi Hendricks, executive director of the New Mexico Family Action Movement, an advocacy group, said local government bodies should maintain the right to determine what’s best for their community. Abortion and gender-affirming care are elective procedures, she said, and access to appropriate health care is already protected.
“Life-affirming and -saving health care is available wherever you need to it to be available,” Hendricks told lawmakers
Sadly, HB7 was passed today in the House Health & Human Services Committee by a vote of 7 to 3.
The bill will now be reviewed in the House Judiciary Committee. It is here that we pray the broad language of the bill will be recognized as over reaching and dangerous for New Mexico. Be on alert for your opportunity to voice your concerns to the Judiciary Committee members.
Bottom Line - The bill ensures access to abortion and gender-affirming services across our state. Local governments and agents will have no rights to provide life protections within their communities.
Should you get involved in school choice? Absolutely. Because thriving children equals thriving families. When New Mexico families thrive, the Land of Enchantment becomes a little more enchanting.
Every aspect of God's creation was intentional and for a purpose; even the fact that Man was the only aspect of his creation to receive life through the breath of God. We are the only piece in his grand design that was set apart and created in his image.
